However, renewal prices increase significantly. With that said, Namecheap is one of the cheapest hosts for your first term, but renewal pricing rises sharply.

Performance is where Namecheap receives mixed feedback amongst reviewers. Whilst we experienced no issues with speed running a basic website:

• Forbes notes a 100% uptime in their testing but warns that storage is limited on basic plans.
• HostAdvice recorded sub‑second load times and a 100% performance grade in their WordPress test site.

This inconsistency suggests performance varies by plan and server location.

Bandwidth & Storage

Namecheap offers unmetered bandwidth on shared hosting plans.

Storage varies by tier:

• Basic plans: 20 GB SSD (Forbes)
• Higher tiers: more SSD storage

For us, bandwidth is generous, but storage on entry plans is lower than many competitors.

SSL Certificates

All Namecheap hosting plans include free SSL certificates. For domains, Namecheap also offers low‑cost premium SSL options. This gives users peace of mind that their websites are well-protected. Free SSLs is becoming the new norm, which is good to see.

Domains

This is where Namecheap truly excels. Namepcheap offer a free domain included with many hosting plans for the first year. On top of this, domain management is extremely simple thanks to their clean user interface. It’s simple, and often cheap (or even free).
